Tomoko's Blog

Originally I made this blog to communicate with with my friends I made with in London . I arrived in London at 14th April 2005 and this is my start studying here. I like computer staff and would like to develop knowledge in that field . I am getting some knowledge from my friends who are so much in that field. So I would like to try what I get and put them on this blog which is useful and understandable for non computer expert person besides my personal diary.

Server

I was talking with one of my colleagues.
He said I should set up server by myself especially, Linux one.
So that I can develop my knowledge and I can be useful at work.

I am a Linux user. However I am just use as a client.
If you know about Linux, you know that there are some distributions which is
so easy and almost same interface as windows.
We do not need to know Linux command.

My current Linux is Kubuntsu.
I tried Sabayon, and Mepis.
If you are totally Linux beginner and want to try, I recommend this.
I am so weak in tech but I managed to install and use it.
I think most of people who are just windows users can do this.
I consulted my computer -Guru who is in London. He is Russian.
He is participates in Pappy Linux development.
This distribution is live-USB Linux and really small.
He promised me to help me to set up

I have only one laptop. Nothing else.

So if I use my current laptop for server, I can not use my computer for daily use.

Especially I want to talk with my computer-Guru with setting up the server. So I need one more computer especially laptop since my room is small.

I asked my colleagues who suggest me to set up a server if he has some laptop in no ues. He said that he can give me his old laptop.

It has only 258 MB RAM MERMORY and 30 GB.

I think it is all right.

I will not tell about this anyone until I successfully set up.

BTW I choose Fedora as my Server.

Wish me luck!
