Tomoko's Blog

Originally I made this blog to communicate with with my friends I made with in London . I arrived in London at 14th April 2005 and this is my start studying here. I like computer staff and would like to develop knowledge in that field . I am getting some knowledge from my friends who are so much in that field. So I would like to try what I get and put them on this blog which is useful and understandable for non computer expert person besides my personal diary.

/computer/ISO file

ISO file. I took me effort to understand what it is.
ISO file is the file with file system.
I would like to use the metaphor of sandwich.
Let's say. the bread is hard drive.
Butter or mustard is the file system. What we put on top is files such as ham or cheese or egg. Normally we are only allowed to copy file itself and we can not copy file system. We can move ham or cheese from one sandwich to another. However we can not move
butter or mustard, can we?!
ISO file is the copy of file system together with all the files on it. To make an ISO file from our CD or hard drive we need to use a utility like Alcohol 120% (see my blog /computer/alcohol120%) for Windows. It works as if it takes our butter from the bread together with everything what we put above the butter.
