Horse race

I went to ASCOT!
It is my first time to go a horse race.
In Japana, I wanted to go but I am a bit scared.
Japanese horce race is different from Englsih.
Usually the place is occupied with men with smell of beer and tabaco while
English horse race is more elegant and have dress code.
I found out horse race is enjoyable.
After the race I saw horses closely and some of them have a sad face.
Do they understand they lost?
My friends said that they can understand.
I bet £2 for a Japanese horse, Hart's cry, but unfortunately he was third.
